Cubs, no pressure or anything, but please give Americans something happy to remember about 2016.

I’ve had trouble concentrating all day. I’ll be through the roof if they win, but if they don’t, I’m not going to feel too bad, because they made it to the World Series and fought hard to the end. Also, they’re going to be damn good for a good while.

I haven’t paid attention to baseball in a long time. I’m trying to not pay attention to football, maybe I should replace it with baseball. Might be a little late in the baseball season to start caring though.

The good news is this is the last game of the year, so if you still hate it you can cheer on its conclusion while one town celebrates a winner.

This sentiment is what has me rooting for the Indians. Either you really want to win the WS, or you really don’t care that much. It’s hard to tell who’s a real fan, and who just started watching baseball last month. This seems to be mostly a phenomenon with people who are Cubs “fans”.

The two greatest words in sports are in support of one of the worst performing franchises in sports history? Weird.

What’s are the second greatest words? Go Browns go?

I’ve been watching the Cubs since before they had lights. I came home from school and watched the day games on WGN. But I was talking to a friend the other night who asked me if a “true” Cubs fan really wanted them to win. Would breaking “The Curse of the Bambino™” ruin everything? I think real, honest Cubs fans want them to win, but wouldn’t jump out of a window if they lost.

That said, “GO CUBS!”

I’m a Cards fan, with several good friends and some family who are Cubs fans. I’ve been rooting for Game 7 from the beginning - I hope they can bring it home tonight. In my best Bill Murray voice: it’s a Cinderella story...

I’ve been a lifelong Cubs fan. I almost couldn’t watch the game last night. I finally turned it on when they were up by 3, and then saw Addison Russell hit the grand salami. Right off the bat, and I’m standing up and yelling, “GO! GO! GET OUT OF HERE!!” And it did. I think honest Cubs fans will be thrilled if they win, but will be pretty sanguine if they don’t.

Meh. I’m not going to try to say I’m any kind of true sportsball fan. For the most part, I’ve got better things to do. But I always root for the underdog, have always had a soft spot for the Cubs, and attending a game at Wrigley Field is on my bucket list.

Besides, how can you not get excited for a team going into game 7 of the WS that hasn’t won since prior to WWI?

My wife and I were joking that it would be hilarious if they split in Cleveland then lost games 3-5 at home. We were almost right. Now if they do win, for fear of the shit show this city will become, we will probably not go outside for a day or two.

I’ll be at the gym. They have a wall of TVs in front of the cardio machines, with FM transmitters where you need to tune your radio to a particular frequency for each TV. Radio, how quaint.

There’s no TVs by the weights. I suppose I could try to watch and/or listen on my phone, but I don’t know if I feel like using up that much data on baseball.

Same! I had to literally teach myself about Baseball to figure out that they were already in the World Series. So I’ve learned, the World Series isn’t just 1 game lol

I have witnesses.

My name was Jody until first-grade, thanks to Jody Davis and a girl named MacKensie in Leawood, KS who teased me the entire way home from school telling me I had a girl’s name. It was Joe D. from then on.

I’m not going to sit here and try to prove my chops, but I have been heart broken by the Cubs enough to forgive any over enthusiastic posts to anything they do well.

Any team that starts to sniff a championship gets a bandwagon. The bandwagon for the Cubs is similar to the Pittsburgh Steelers (except literate) in that anyone who has lived around the area develops an inclination for the team because Wrigleyville is so much fun, or because they want them so badly to get over the hump and finally win one. There’s a charisma to this team that is undeniable.

There was a point when Boston fans were clearly less awful than Yankee fans. Once you win there is no charm left.

Since when did the Cubs become America’s Team? Last month?

As a baseball fan, I think it’s great that Cleveland or the Cubbies is going to win.....the two longest winless streaks in MLB.

The fact that we also have a game 7 is just awesome.

And as of tomorrow, it’s just 14 weeks until pitchers and catchers report.

I hear you. These last few weeks have been such roller coaster ride. I’ll be glad when it’s over and I can get back to having relaxing evenings where I go to bed on time.

I’m so tired of this curse/drought stuff. If they don’t win it tonight, there’s a damn good chance they will at least once in the coming years because this team is finally built and managed well. That’s all there is to it.

When Russell hit that slam, I flailed so hard my glasses flew off. It was great.

What do you mean finally win one? There is one team in this WS that has never won a WS and it isn’t the Cubs. This is what I’m talking about.

If a team hasn’t won the World series in 100+ years, it’s pretty much the same thing as not ever winning.

I am witness to his Cubbies fandom, in all the years I’ve known him he’s never jumped on someone else’s bandwagon.

I hope they win tonight so I’ll be pulling for them.

You could have at least quoted me entirely. I’ve been a Cubs fan my whole life (32 years) so I think I can qualify as a “real fan”.

I’ll be disappointed if they don’t win, but I’m not going to be distraught because a) it’s just a game and b) Epstein/Hoyer/Ricketts have this team built for success for years to come.

That good enough for you?

Well by proximity I’m a Cardnials fan and don’t mind the Cubs losing. But like pitty sex, I would allow the win because we have been there a few times and won in the last few years. I know the winning feeling.

And by proximity I mean I’m too cheap to pay for TV (cable/satellite) or else the cards game would be on every night. Damn the MLB blackout zones or else I’d just but the season to watch online.

Don’t blame MLB, it’s the teams and broadcasters that pull that nonsense.

Just get MLB atbat and stream the games, geographic blocking is super easy to get around with a private VPN.

I did that one year, I don’t computer so I didn’t get to watch much. if I wanted to I would stream the game from VIP.leauge on the tablet and cast it onto the TV but the ISP can’t handle much bandwidth again because I’m cheap.

I can’t. It’s a work phone and limited to about 2G a month.

During family functions I’ll stream a baseball game from The Internet, same with F1 or V8 supercars. I did pay about $45 for the WEC season pass, where I only watched 1-2 live races, but LeMans was worth that price.

Seriously, the pedantry is unnecessary. I obviously know it’s not our first as 1908 is burned in our brains as children from everyone else who watches baseball. I want to like you and then you nitpick shit. On top of the fact that you can’t win two at a time, so to finally win one, would be an implied “again” as they would finally win one after 108 years. I don’t have the patience for this. Seriously, go pee in someone else’s cheerios.

I lived in Lowell, MA prior to them winning. They were always insufferable, our pity made it okay. (My first game in Fenway had Randy Johnson on the mound for Seattle and Jay Buehner going over the right field wall to make a catch)

Stream it through your phone on wifi, then cast it to your TV with chrome cast. You can watch it in full HD without issue.

I do this with my tablet. I use http://www.vipleague.mobi  which has a bit of everything. I had to go through a couple browsers to find one that worked, but somehow chrome is fine now.

I have tried to manipulate the GPS just through the settings, but since the at bat recognized it I gave up. I also forget to stream the games so I wouldn’t same I’m a huge fan, but if it’s on I’ll watch it. Same with racing and hockey, but I’ll seek out racing streams because they are usually on weekends.

I am watching the world series because it’s on network TV.
